Ana García Bergua

Ana García Bergua, born in Mexico City in 1960, is an author of both fiction and nonfiction. According to José de la Colina, her work is “realistic, funny, and fantastic: a three-part mix that works well for few writers, but for her, it does.” She is a member of Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte. In 2013, she won the Premio Internacional de Literatura Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz for her novel La bomba de San José. She won the 2016 Premio Nacional de Narrativa Colima for La tormenta hindú y otras historias. Her books also include Púrpura, Pie de página Isla de bobos, Rosas negras, Edificio, and Fuego 20. Her work has been translated into English, French, German, Slovenian, and Italian. She has collaborated with many publications since the eighties; she currently writes in “Laberinto” for the newspaper Milenio, in Literal Magazine, and in Letras Libres, and she teaches fiction workshops. She recently published the short story collection Leer en los aviones with Ediciones ERA.
