Santiago Acosta

Santiago Acosta is a Venezuelan scholar and poet based in New Haven. He is Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale University. Acosta’s work is situated at the intersections of literature and other practices such as critical theory, political economy, and environmental history. His fourth and most recent poetry collection, El próximo desierto, won the 2018 José Emilio Pacheco City and Nature Literature Prize, awarded by the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) and the Museum of Environmental Sciences of Guadalajara University. Acosta’s poetry has received the support of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and he was an invited poet at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow.
