Rosabetty Muñoz was born in Ancud, Chiloé in 1960. Since earning her degree as a Professor of Spanish, she has worked as an educator in various educational institutions in Chiloé and has taken part in the cultural development of southern Chile. She has published more than ten books of poetry, including Canto de una oveja del Rebaño (1981), En Lugar de Morir (1987), La Santa, historia de su elevación (1998), Sombras en el Rosselot (2002), Polvo de huesos (2012, Premio Altazor), Técnicas para cegar a los peces (2019, Premio Municipal de Santiago), Misión Circular (2020, Premio del Círculo de Críticos), Santo Oficio (2020, Premio Atenea), La Voz de la Casa (2021), Poesía Reunida (2024), and Ligia/En Nombre de Ninguna/Ratada (2025). In 2022 she was awarded the Premio Nacional de Poesía Jorge Teillier, and in 2024 she was awarded the Premio Iberoamericano de Poesía Pablo Neruda.
