Kalu Tatyisavi

Kalu Tatyisavi is an award-winning Ñuu Savi poet, novelist, dramaturgist, and essayist. He studied sociology, philosophy and Latin American literature at Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM), and is currently Professor of Sociology, Literature, and Tu’un Savi (Mixteco) at the same institution. The author of over ten books, Tatyisavi's writing has won several of Mexico’s most prestigious Indigenous language awards, including the Premio Nezahualcóyotl in 2000 and 2012 (under Karlos Tachisavi), and the Premio Bellas Artes in Indigenous Language Literature in 2019 for Tyi niin iyo / Porque el silencio. He lives in Mexicio City.
