Eduardo Hurtado

Eduardo Hurtado was a poet, editor, and essayist. He was born in Mexico City on October 13, 1950 and died on December 16, 2025. He studied Hispanic Letters at UNAM. He participated in a number of publishing projects dedicated to poetry. He wrote the following books of poems: La gran trampa del tiempo (1973), Ludibrios y nostalgias (1977), Donde conversan los amigos (1981), Rastro del desmemoriado (1986), Ciudad sin puertas (1991), Puntos de mira (1997), and Sol de nadie (2001). In 2004, he published his book of essays Este decir y no decir. In 2005, he won the Premio Nacional de Poesía Carlos Pellicer para Obra Publicada for his book Las diez mil cosas, published by Editorial Era. In 2008, he published Bagatelas. His poetry books Ocurre todavía (2012) and Casi nada (2016) were published by the Fondo de Cultura Económica, and in 2021 Editorial Trilce published his book Miscelánea. He also prepared several compilations of other authors’ work, including Otromundo by Juan Gelman (FCE, 2008) and Todo poema está empezando by Eduardo Lizalde (Ediciones La Otra, 2010). His poems have been translated to English, French, and Arabic.
