Daniel Zavala Medina was born in Mexico City in 1972. He holds a doctorate in Hispanic Literature from the Colegio de México. Since 2009, he has worked as a professor and researcher in the Undergraduate Program in Hispano-American Language and Literature of the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. In 2011, he became part of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (CONAHCYT). His academic works include Borges en la conformación de la Antología de la literatura fantástica (2012). In 2018, he received the Premio Bellas Artes de Ensayo Literario José Revueltas for his book Soberbios ojos de tigre: Cinco ensayos sobre La sombra del caudillo.
