Cecilia García-Huidobro is a journalist and literary scholar. She directed the Revista Universitaria and was editor of the Revista de Libros supplement of Chilean newspaper El Mercurio. She served as dean of the School of Communication and Literature at Diego Portales University and created the Roberto Bolaño Memorial Lecture Series. She has published writing on the work of Vicente Huidobro, Gabriela Mistral, and Edwards Bello, among others, and has collected the journalistic work of José Donoso in two books: Artículos de incierta necesidad and El escribidor intruso. In 2016, she published the early diaries of José Donoso, and in 2023 she published Diarios centrales: A Season in Hell, 1966-1980, which received the Círculo de Críticos Prize and the Academia Prize. In 2020, she edited and wrote the preface to José Donoso’s previously unpublished text Jane Austen y la elegancia de la mente. In 2021, she directed the republication with new additions of Historia personal del “boom” y otros escritos by José Donoso. She is co-editor of Correspondencia, a book that gathers the letters exchanged between José Donoso and Carlos Fuentes (Alfaguara, 2024). She has served on the juries of prestigious literary awards, such as the FIL Prize of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (2005, 2006, 2010, 2011) and the José Donoso Prize for Ibero-American Literature, granted by the University of Talca in 2011. In 2019, she became a Visiting Research Scholar at the Program in Latin American Studies (PLAS) of Princeton University.
