Brendan Riley

brendanriley

Brendan Riley is an ATA Certified Translator of Spanish to English. He holds degrees in English from Santa Clara University and Rutgers University, as well as certificates in translation studies from U.C. Berkeley and the University of Illinois. Brendan’s writings and translations have appeared in numerous publications, including The Review of Contemporary Fiction, Three Percent, Asymptote, Numéro Cinq, Bookslut, Drunken Boat, Anomaly, Publishers Weekly, The Believer, Best European Fiction, and The New York Times. His book-length translations include: Juan Velasco Moreno’s Massacre of the Dreamers (Editorial Polibea, 2011); Álvaro Enrigue’s Hypothermia (Dalkey Archive Press, 2013); Sunrise in Southeast Asia by Carmen Grau (Dunsborough Books, 2015); The Bible: Living Dialogue by Pope Francis, Abraham Skorka, and Marcelo Figueroa (American Bible Society, 2015); Caterva by Juan Filloy (Dalkey Archive Press 2015); The Great Latin American Novel by Carlos Fuentes (Dalkey Archive Press, 2016); and Recounting: Antagony—Book I by Luis Goytisolo (Dalkey Archive Press, 2017). Since 1994, Brendan has been a full-time high school teacher of English and Spanish.
