
Francisco Véjar was born in Viña del Mar, Chile in 1967. He is a poet, critic, anthologist, and essayist. His work has appeared in various anthologies in Chile and abroad. He has published the books of poems Música para un álbum personal (1992), Canciones imposibles (1998), País insomnio (2000), and El emboscado (2003). In 2008, he published La fiesta y la ceniza. 2009 saw the release of his book of crónicas, titled Los inesperados, in which he writes about the life and work of Nicanor Parra and Jorge Teillier, among others. In 2017, Cicatrices y estrellas was published by Spanish press Huerga & Fierro. Two years later, he published the anthology Poemas de la realidad secreta (Editorial Visor), selected and with a prologue by the author. 2021 saw the release of Manuscrito encontrado en mi bolsillo. He is currently a poetry critic for the “Artes y Letras” supplement of the newspaper El Mercurio. He is preparing a poetry chapbook titled Ahora debería estar nevando.
