Yolanda Pantin was born in Caracas in 1954. She studied Letters at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. She is a poet, essayist, editor, and children’s book author. She has published the following verse collections: Casa o Lobo (1981), Correo del Corazón (1985), La Canción Fría (1989), Poemas del Escritor (1989), El Cielo de París (1989), Los Bajos Sentimientos (1993), La Quietud (1998), El Hueso Pélvico (2002), Poemas Huérfanos (2002), La Épica del Padre (2002), País (2007), 21 caballos (2011), Bellas Ficciones (2016), and Lo que hace el tiempo (2017). In 2014, Pre-textos published País, poesía reunida 1981-2011. In 1989 she received the Premio Fundarte de Poesía in Caracas. She received a Rockefeller Foundation grant at Bellagio Study Center. In 2004, she received a Guggenheim grant. For her complete works, she received the Premio Poetas del Mundo Latino “Víctor Sandoval” in Aguascalientes, Mexico in 2015, and she received the XVII Premio Casa de América de Poesía Americana in Madrid, Spain in 2017. In 2020, she received the Premio Federico García Lorca in Granada, Spain.
