Javier Peñalosa M. writes poetry, children’s literature, and screenplays for film and television. He holds an undergraduate degree in education and completed a master’s in creative writing at New York University. He is the author of the poetry books Aviario, Los trenes que partían de mí, Los que regresan, H, and Diente de léon (forthcoming). His work has been recognized with fellowships from the Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas, the Jóvenes Creadores program, and the New York Fund for the Arts. He was awarded the Enriqueta Ochoa National Poetry Prize in 2009 and the Xirau Icaza Prize, granted by the Colegio de México, in 2017, and was writer-in-residence at the Casa Cien Años de Soledad. His poems have been translated into English and German and appear in several anthologies, films, and stage plays. His book What Comes Back was translated by Robin Myers and published by Copper Canyon Press.
