Dubravka Ugrešić (1949-2023) was a European writer and the author of several novels and volumes of essays that have been translated into over twenty languages. The recipient of several prestigious literary awards, including the 2016 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, Ugrešić was born and raised in the former Yugoslavia, then in Croatia, and then lived in the Netherlands. She passed away in March 2023.
