Alonso Ruiz Rosas

Alonso Ruiz Rosas (Arequipa, 1959) has published nine books of poetry: Caja negra (1986), Sacrificio (1989), La conquista del Perú (1991), Museo (1999), La enfermedad de Venus (2000), Estudio sobre la belleza (2010), Espíritupampa (2015), En la ascensión (2021), and Subida al Monte Parnaso (2022). In the late 1970s, he was one of the editors of the literary journals Omnibus (1977) and Macho Cabrío (1980). Ruiz Rosas has been the cultural attaché for the Peruvian Embassy in France and director of the Centro Cultural Inca Garcilaso in the Peruvian Foreign Relations Ministry, and he is currently the cultural attaché for the Peruvian Embassy in Spain. He has been a journalist and is the author of a key study on the cuisine of Arequipa, Peru.
