Rodrigo Mariño López studied literature at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He holds a master’s degree in creative writing and a doctorate in Latin American literature. He has worked as a translator, an editorial coordinator, and an educator, and he is currently a Spanish teacher in Washington, D.C. His novel Fugas de la memoria was a finalist for the Premio Nacional Nuevas Voces EMECÉ and his novel Viene la ausencia was a finalist for the Premio Nacional de Novela Ciudad de Bogotá. His essays and book reviews have appeared in the journals Cincinnati Romance Review, Revista Iberoamericana, and Latin American Literature Today.
