Marvel Moreno

Marvel Moreno was born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1939. She is the author of the novel En diciembre llegaban las brisas (1987), the short story collections Algo tan feo en la vida de una señora bien (1980), and El encuentro y otros relatos (1992). Despite acquiring a cult following and being widely considered to be one of the most important and influential Colombian writers of the twentieth century, she did not receive the recognition she deserved during her lifetime. She died in Paris in 1995. A complete collection of her short stories, Cuentos Completos, was published posthumously in 2001, and in a re-edited version by Alfaguara in 2018. Her second novel, which she was writing before her death, El tiempo de las Amazonas, remains unedited and unpublished.
