
Evodio Escalante (Durango, Mexico, 1946) is an essayist, anthologist, critic, and poet. With a degree in law and a doctorate in literature, for decades he worked as a full-time professor and researcher in the Philosophy Department at the UAM-Iztapalapa, as well as a visiting professor at Rice University and the University of Paris XII. A regular contributor to leading Mexican media dedicated to literature and culture, he has published more than twenty books, some of which are essential for understanding Mexican literature. He won the Premio de Poesía Iberoamericana Ramón López Velarde in 2009 and in 2025 he was awarded the Premio Internacional Rubén Bonifaz Nuño.
