Carmen Ollé

Carmen Ollé was born in Lima in 1947. She studied education at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and was a professor and researcher at the Universidad de Educación Enrique Guzmán y Valle from 1981 to 1992. She is the author of the poetry books Noches de adrenalina and Todo orgullo humea la noche, the novels and short story collections ¿Por qué hacen tanto ruido?, Monólogos de Lima, Retrato de una mujer sin familia ante una copa, Las dos caras del deseo, Pista falsa, Una muchacha bajo su paraguas, Halcones en el parque, Halo de la Luna, and Amores líquidos, the memoir Destino: vagabunda, and the book of columns and stories Me gustan los atardeceres tristes. She leads creative writing workshops and gives lectures at universities and cultural centers in Peru and abroad. Her poems, essays, and stories have appeared in various Peruvian and international anthologies. She was awarded the 2015 Premio de la Casa de la Literatura Peruana for her overall body of work. In 2019, Amores líquidos won the Premio Luces for best book of short stories, and in 2023, Destino: vagabunda won the same prize in the nonfiction category. In 2025, she was awarded the Premio Iberoamericano de Letras José Donoso.
