Alba Eiragi Duarte

Alba Eiragi Duarte (b. 1960) is a poet and Indigenous leader born in Curuguaty, Paraguay. She is a of Aché descent and was raised in the Avá Guaraní community in Colonia Fortuna, Departamento de Canindeyú. Her books include the poetry collection Ñe’ẽ yvoty: Ñe’ẽ poty and a story collection, Ayvu tee Avá Guaraní. In 2017, she became the first Indigenous female member of the Society of Writers of Paraguay. Her poems and short stories have been anthologized nationally and internationally.
