Stacey Alba Skar-Hawkins

Stacey Alba Skar-Hawkins completed a PhD in Latin American literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1997). She has published book translations with the University of Wisconsin Press, Duke University Press, and Nueva York Poetry Press in the US, and bilingual editions of Nicaraguan poetry in Mexico, Nicaragua, and Spain. Her academic research focuses primarily on human rights in Latin American literature, and her translations reflect that expertise from testimony and memoir in Chile and Nicaragua to new publications from Nicaraguan authors, including Gioconda Belli and William González Guevara. She teaches Spanish language, culture, and translation at Western Connecticut State University.
