Itamar Vieira Junior

Itamar Vieira Junior was born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1979. He is a writer and holds a doctorate in Ethnic and African Studies. He is the author of A oração do carrasco [The executioner's prayer] (2017), a collection of short stories that was selected as a finalist of the Prêmio Jabuti de Literatura. His stories have been translated and published in literary journals in France and the USA. His most recent novel, Torto Arado [Crooked plow], was awarded the prestigious Prêmio LeYa in 2018.
