Carla Bessa

Carla Bessa is a writer, theatre director, and translator born in Rio de Janeiro and currently living in Berlin. She is the author of four books: three collections of short stories—Aí eu fiquei sem esse filho (2017), Urubus (2020), winner of the 2020 Jabuti Prize in the “short story” category and second place at the 2020 Brazilian National Library Award, and Todas Umas 2020—and the novel Minha Murilo (2021). Urubus and Todas Umas have been translated into German, and Aí eu fiquei sem esse fillho into Greek. Her short stories have appeared in Your Impossible Voice, the Oxford Anthology of Translation, and Asymptote.
