Andrés Montero

Andrés Montero is a writer and storyteller based in Santiago de Chile. He is the author of nine books, with a new novel to be published later this year. Among other prizes, he has been awarded the Premio Marta Brunet for his novel Alguien toca la puerta (also awarded the Premio Municipal de Literatura de Santiago, in the children’s literature category, in 2017) and the X Premio Iberoamericano de Novela Elena Poniatowska in 2017 for his novel Tony Ninguno. He has also been a finalist for Argentina’s Premio Clarín de Novela. His books have been published in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Denmark. As well as writing, he is an active supporter of Chile’s oral storytelling tradition, being a cofounder of La Matrioska, a company of professional storytellers, and director of Casa Contada, Escuela de Literatura y Oralidad.
